    We are dedicated to improving food and nutrition security in the Western Capes poorest countries. In 2015 LUFN started a food security program for pupils attending Itlanganiso Secondary School in Khayelitsha. In partnership with the Western Cape education department LUFN has grown this program to 7 local schools and communities, providing healthy organic vegetables to those in need.

INTEGRATED SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

ISD Foundation partners to design and deliver integrated urban models and strategies that connect local needs with sustainable development objectives in under-resourced communities.

We aim to build the capacity and resilience of local actors and policy makers, as well as mobilize effective international working coalitions of technical experts, innovators, and investors. 

OKRA

OKRA has designed an aquaponics and hydroponics system, fed by rainwater, in support of the urban farm at Intlaganiso school. The system is currently managed by LUFN. As part of a long term and larger vision and in collaboration with LUFN, OKRA has designed and implemented additional green areas within the outdoor spaces of the school. These includes edible and aromatic plants, that contribute to the educational goals of the urban farm.
